Thanksgiving 2013

We met our daughter and her family in Chico and had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I made the Butterfly Quilt for my granddaughter and the Cow Pillow
for my grandson.  For the pillow I used Simplicity Pattern 2197 and cow
cuddle fabric.  The ears look like they are a bit off for a cow, but my grandson
pointed and said "cow" when he saw it.  The Butterfly Rag Quilt is from
Simplicity Pattern 1822. I made my grandson the rag quilt turtle a year ago.

I am working on Christmas presents right now.  I have a couple quilt tops finished
and a third quilt cut out.  Wonder if I will actually get them done in time?

"Parenthood Is Forever" Subway Art

Posted around my house are quotes that inspire and uplift me.  Here is a collection of quotes that I put together as my first stab at subway art.  The quotes are from the Ensign article "Families Are Forever and So Is Parenthood", by Garth Hanson and Steve Hanson.

The Quiet Book

A friend picked up this wonderful pattern for me at a thrift store.  It is a discontinued Vogue pattern for an Activity Book (Vogue #1959 It's A Zoo). I made a few modifications, and left out a couple of pages because the book was getting pretty thick.  I used thick craft interfacing, as well as, a variety of fabrics. Next time, I may just stick to cottons.  Happy Birthday to my sweet grandson, enjoy!!!!!

Modified using a pair of overalls from Goodwill.

The Butterfly Quilt

Finally had the opportunity to make the Butterfly Rag Quilt. (Simplicity 2935)  I think it turned out really cute.  I made it for a friend to give to her daughter.

This is a Queen size bed, just to give you an idea of size.
I laid out the pieces before sewing them together to make
sure I didn't make any mistakes when actually sewing.
The best made plans, I sewed one section wrong 3 times!
